🌅 A Midsummer Night's Reflection
Do we have to keep labeling our summers "Hot *something* Summers?"
Welcome to July, fellow readers!
How are we enjoying our summer thus far?
Are you a mother, squandering over work and camp schedules? (If so, please schedule time for you to do what you want to do, alone or with an adult bud.)
Are you a singleton, trying to get through work and the heat? (I hope you’ve scheduled some pool time, if that’s the case.)
Whatever your summer status, I hope you are taking some time for reflection. I recently opened my post from this time last year, “Frazzled Woman Summer.” The title alone informs us all how I was feeling in the throes of Summer 2024.
Unlike last year, I considered sending my kids to camps this year, but after rereading my old post, I decided, “Why?” My kids enjoy the downtime of summer as much as I do, and because I have the privilege of working from home, I don’t need to find a place for them to be taken care of, and we can save a little more on our summer budges, especially after returning from the first summer family vacation we’ve had since before the pandemic.
I’m proud to say I’ve stuck to just teas for my morning caffeine kick, though I do allow myself an occasional café latte now and then.
And since July a year ago, I’ve finally obtained a diagnosis that explains probably 90% of what’s been plaguing my body since my teens: PCOS.1
Besides a few stylistic tweaks and edits, my views from July last year to today remain the same. A year isn’t a long time to change your views, but at the same time, it is. Those 12 whole months feel like eons ago, so it was nice to revisit and reflect on Past Me and her inner thoughts and struggles, if not for self-validation, then to learn, appreciate my progress, and move forward and further away from being a Frazzled Woman.
Enjoy:
